Booking & Pricing
01How much does color grading cost?
Every project gets a flat quote after we see the cut.
02How long does a final grade take?
A :30 spot is usually graded in about a day. Music videos and longer pieces are scheduled in the quote, once we see the cut.
03How many revisions are included?
Three rounds of notes on every grade. Need more? We quote extra rounds before we start.
04What files do I get back?
Graded masters in the format your deliverables call for: ProRes, DPX, IMF, or DCP, plus any LUTs or CDLs built for the project.
05How do I book?
Send the cut through the contact form or email us. We reply within one business day, and send a look plan and flat quote by the next business day after we see your cut. Quotes are valid for 30 days. A 50% deposit books your dates, and the balance is due before final masters are released.
06What counts as a revision?
A note on the grade you’ve seen: a shot, a skin tone, a scene that needs to be warmer. Changes to the edit, added shots, or a new look direction are new work, and we quote them separately before starting.
07What if we need to cancel or move a session?
Cancel with more than 48 hours’ notice at no charge. Cancel inside 48 hours and the booked session is billed at 50%. Need to move a session? Tell us as early as you can and we’ll find a new slot.
General
08How should I prep my project for color?
Start with a clean conform: locked picture, a flattened timeline, and a tidy XML. Duplicate your timeline for color and strip out text, graphics, and temp grades. Keep it to one or two video tracks, with native camera log files.
The Conform Prep Guide walks through it for every editing system.
09What platforms do you grade in?
DaVinci Resolve Studio on calibrated reference monitors, from conform through final output.
10What color spaces do you work in?
Scene-referred spaces built for creative control and technical precision. We work in ACES, custom and film workflows, or JPLog2 / JPCINE3, our favorite for the most headroom above and below middle gray. See Scene-Referred in the glossary.
11Why should I shoot in my camera’s native log?
Log captures the widest dynamic range your sensor offers, keeps highlight and shadow detail, and gives the grade the most room. It also future-proofs your footage.
12What kinds of projects do you work on?
Commercials, features, series, documentaries, branded content, music videos, shorts, and AI-generated video.
Dailies
13What’s included in your dailies service?
- Sound sync and metadata pass
- Color adjustments and timecode burn-in
- Safe archival and cloud delivery
Dailies get as close to the final look as practical to avoid offline eyes. Real-time grain, diffusion, and halation are available.
14How fast is the turnaround?
Typically 12 to 24 hours from receiving media, often same day for short shooting days. Share your schedule and we keep pace.
15Can I view dailies remotely?
Yes. Secure cloud portals, with near real-time review if needed.
16On-set, near-set, or remote dailies?
On-set: next to camera, files handed off immediately. Near-set: a nearby lab with runner drives or secure shuttle. Remote: you upload, we process and deliver digitally. We recommend the fit based on location, schedule, and budget.
Look Development
17When should look development start?
As early as possible, ideally before cameras roll. We guide camera tests, build the show LUT, and design a pipeline that stays consistent through post.
18Can you supply LUTs for on-set monitoring?
Yes. The hero look becomes cube LUTs or CDLs so camera, DIT, and VFX all see the same image.
19Do you work with any camera?
Yes. ARRI, RED, Sony, Canon, Blackmagic, and more. Each log profile gets its own transform.
20Can you match a specific film or reference?
Yes. Send films, photos, paintings, or mood boards. We break down the reference and rebuild it for your camera, lighting, and pipeline.
21What’s the difference between a LUT and a look?
A LUT is a fixed transform. A look is a creative intention: contrast, color response, texture, grain, and mood. We build looks and export a LUT when the workflow needs one.
DI Color & Beauty
22Basic grade or full grade?
Basic: balance, primary contrast, and shot matching. Full: look, advanced keys, texture, beauty passes, and shot-to-shot flow.
23Do you offer skin retouching and object removal?
Yes. Skin smoothing and blemish and tattoo cleanup happen inside the grade. Bigger fixes, like screen or sky replacement, we scope in the quote.
24Can I sit in on the grade?
Yes, live. We stream the grade to you on Louper, wherever you are. In-person sessions in Miami can be arranged for select projects.
25How do you balance director and DP notes?
One notes list for everyone. If the director and DP see it differently, we settle it on a call before we grade.
Finishing
26What delivery formats can you handle?
SDR Rec.709, HDR10, HDR10+, Dolby Vision, DCP, IMF, and files in ProRes, DPX, EXR, or H.265. Tell us the destination and we hit spec.
27Can you QC and prep for streamers or festivals?
Yes. Netflix P3-D65, DCI-P3, Dolby Vision masters, and festival DCP specs.
28Do you archive projects after delivery?
Yes. Media is kept for 40 days after delivery. Your project files and LUTs are kept for 12 months, so recuts and new versions start where we left off. Longer media storage is available on request.
